Edelweiss Weekly Update – Monday, October 5th, 2009

Whew!  We’re in the home stretch of our regional trade show tour.  With PNBA, MBA, SiBA, NEiBA, and GLiBA now behind us, we’re finishing up at NAiBA today, going to NCiBA later this week, and then on to SCiBA in a couple of weeks.  It’s been great to see the energy, optimism, and love of books in these shows!

TIP OF THE WEEK

You can easily send a list of titles (formatted with thumbnail images) to someone via email from within the Edelweiss List View.  Simply tag the titles within the List View (using the title-specific check boxes or the top check box to select all titles on the page) and select “Email” from the Action menu.  You can manually enter your email addresses or pick from any Edelweiss organizations and registered users available to you.  Add your message and your recipient will receive a nicely formatted email with the titles listed along with your message.  The title info in the email also has “hot” links that take the user back to Edelweiss for more info.  If this sounds interesting, try it out and send yourself one to see how it looks.

FEATURES & FIXES

Attention book buyers!  You can now have Edelweiss suggest store categories or sections for you to apply to new titles. If you go to the admin section and  take some time to ‘map’ BISAC categories to the section codes that you use in your store, Edelweiss can then ‘suggest’ the mapped category or section code for each title as you buy. You can still easily change the suggested store section or category code on individual titles as you enter order quantities, but this should help save valuable time for a large number of buys.  For more info on this feature, check out this posting on our Ning.
