Edelweiss Weekly Update – Monday, August 10, 2009

Hi all—Mark is in the Scottish Highlands for the next two weeks on a well-deserved vacation! I’ll be sending along the weekly update in his absence.

Quick reminder: We offer free Webex-based demo’s twice per week for Retailers and other Catalog Readers.  “Reply” to me if you want more info on how to sign up.  Publisher reps: we can also work with you to schedule training.  Just let us know.

TIP OF THE WEEK

‘Tagging’ titles in Edelweiss is often more efficient than adding ‘notes’. While ‘notes’ allow for more detail, ‘tags’ have two primary benefits over ‘notes’ in Edelweiss.

  1. You can filter on tags within a catalog so that you can quickly find titles you, others in your organization or your reps have marked as ‘potential event’, ‘newsletter’, etc. titles
  2. Readers can use the tag ‘cloud’ in the Mark-Up section of the site to see all the tags used by anyone in your organization and click to see titles (across catalogs and publishers) with a particular tag.

FEATURES

Much of our recent development work has been in fine-tuning existing features to support the Winter and Spring buying seasons starting for many publishers. A couple of new features worth pointing out include the ability to filter now by imprint as well as publisher (i.e. William Morrow in addition to HarperCollins) and some improvements to the preset PDF formats, especially the Single Page and List formats. We are working on the ability to send the List View within the body of an email as well, which could be useful in communicating with colleagues and/or customers.
