Edelweiss Weekly Update – Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Edelweiss Weekly Update – Tuesday, September 15, 2009

We’ll be attending the Fall regional trade shows coming up over the next couple of months.  Be sure to come by to our presentation to learn more about Edelweiss, share your thoughts and experiences, or just to say “Hi.”  We’re really looking forward to seeing and meeting book professionals from around the country!

TIP OF THE WEEK

You can configure the List View to show the information you want to see.  Click on the “Add Elements” control at upper left of a List View page to see a list of all of the data elements you can choose from.

USER BASE GROWTH CONTINUES

We continue to experience great growth in our user base.  The chart below shows our year-to-date growth in registered users, including only readers and retailers (no publisher users included.)  We passed 450 in the last few days.

FEATURES & FIXES

We’ve just deployed a number of enhancements and fixes and, as always, are working on more.  Here’s a sample:

  • To save time, Edelweiss now allows retailers to auto-populate their subject categories for easy upload into point-of-sale systems. Retailers can ‘map’ their own category to either high-level publisher-assigned categories such as ‘Fiction’ or one of over 2,000 detailed categories such as ‘Fiction / Romance / Western’. The mapping process can be accessed from within the Administration Center.
  • A number of usability enhancements to the comp title add/edit function have been added – ability to sort by pub date or other columns, press enter to initiate search, and faster overall performance.

NEW PUBLISHER

We’re pleased to announce that Quayside Publishing Group will be joining Edelweiss!

ABA MEMBER SURVEY

Thanks to all of the ABA members who responded to the ABA e-catalog survey.  Here are a few key results (we’ll be sharing more results via the ABA.)

  • 66% of respondents were either not aware of Edelweiss at all or were not aware that it is free and available to all booksellers, regardless of Above the Treeline affiliation.
  • 93% of current Edelweiss users would recommend it to others.
  • About half of Edelweiss users say that using Edelweiss for frontlist ordering takes less time than the traditional hard copy catalog.  About 20% said it takes more time.  Keep in mind, this is after the first season of use.
  • Almost 60% of Edelweiss users rated our technical support as “Excellent”, with an additional nearly 30% rating it as “Good”.  Thanks!

As always, email me or edelweiss@abovethetreeline.com if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions.
