About Us

Above the Treeline was founded by John Rubin in 2001 with the mission of helping independent bookstores across the country to better understand their businesses, and to support their publisher-partners with analytical tools.  Today, over 400 ABA and CBA bookstores in the US use Treeline Analytics for sales and inventory analysis.  In addition, Treeline Analytics supports Borders Group Inc. with sales, inventory, and assortment analysis tools for planners and buyers to better manage merchandise across their 500 superstores.

In 2008 Above the Treeline teamed with eight major publishers and a team of independent booksellers to pilot the industry's first electronic catalog system: Edelweiss.  Edelweiss is a web-based interactive publisher catalog system that enhances or replaces the use of hard copy catalogs.  Edelweiss is completely free for booksellers, librarians, reviewers, and other professional readers.
