3/9/2012 Above the Treeline Partners with NAIPR to Add Frontlist Plus Universal ™ to Edelweiss

March 9, 2012 (Ann Arbor, MI) — Above the Treeline is pleased to announce a new cooperative venture with the National Association of Independent Publishers Representatives (NAIPR). Under the agreement, NAIPR’s Frontlist Plus Universal  service will be made accessible within Above the Treeline’s Edelweiss service, and new Edelweiss service levels will be made available for Frontlist Plus Universal  publishers.

“We’re really excited to partner with NAIPR on what is a common mission—to help publishers, sales reps, and booksellers become more efficient in the process of getting the right books in their customers’ hands,” said John Rubin, founder and CEO of Above the Treeline. “The different NAIPR service levels will allow publishers who might not need the full Edelweiss service or the full Edelweiss service for every title to participate at the level they need.”

Frontlist Plus Universal files will be made available for download on the Edelweiss website this Fall 2012 selling season, as the first step toward  integrating the two products. In the near future, publishers will have the ability to upgrade their Frontlist Plus Universal service to allow NAIPR reps to create marked-up catalogs for their accounts and for retailers to integrate publisher titles into their Edelweiss orders.

Bob Rooney, executive director of NAIPR, states, “This new agreement allows NAIPR to continue to keep faith with our members, our participating publishers, and our independent booksellers. Having Frontlist Plus Universal integrated into the leading metadata management and distribution product, Edeweiss, is a great opportunity for everyone in the bookselling chain―publishers, independent reps, and booksellers―to benefit. Introducing new levels of service within Edeweiss allows publishers to participate at the levels they see fit on a title-by-title basis and to control costs as we move to an ever-greater digital transfer of information.”

For more information, please contact Bob Rooney at NAIPR at robert.rooney@naipr.org or John Rubin at Above the Treeline at john@abovethetreeline.com.

11/1/2010 - Edelweiss Incorporates Goodreads "Shelf Counts" in Title Buzz Tracking

Ann Arbor, Michigan - November 1st, 2010 -

Above the Treeline is pleased to announce the addition of the Goodreads shelf count to the buzz tracking tools within Edelweiss, its market-leading online publisher catalog service.  In addition to the newly added Goodreads data, Edelweiss provides Twitter and blog tracking so that book professionals using Edelweiss can easily see which titles have online activity and can quickly view the relevant information.  Similar to the other buzz tracking tools in Edelweiss, the Goodreads indicator will contain a link to the title page on the Goodreads site so that users can see full Goodreads information for a selected title.

Goodreads is an online community of more than 4.1 million book lovers and casual readers who are able to assign titles to personal shelves, such as "to-read", "currently-reading", "read" and other custom shelves.  By integrating this aggregated information into Edelweiss, book professionals such as booksellers, sales reps, publicists, librarians, and media will be able to see which titles have the most energy and excitement from the Goodreads community, as expressed through the overall shelf count.

"Goodreads is the world's largest social network for readers and we're really excited to be providing Edelweiss users with this information to help them to gauge which new titles are generating the most excitement from readers," said Treeline CEO John Rubin. "As with our Twitter and blog tracking, we think this will become another key piece of information within Edelweiss to support marketing efforts and buying decisions."

9/8/2010 - Above the Treeline Partners with Regional Bookseller Associations to Provide Online Catalogs for Fall Trade Shows

Ann Arbor, MI - September 8th, 2010 - Eight of the nine U.S. regional bookseller associations have partnered with Above the Treeline, provider of the book industry's digital catalog Edelweiss, to provide online companion catalogs for their upcoming fall 2010 trade shows taking place in September and October.  These online product catalogs will provide attendees, interested booksellers, bloggers, and other book industry professionals with an online resource to browse, share, tag, and order titles being featured at this year's shows.

The online catalogs will be named Books@GLIBA, Books@MBA, Books@MPIBA, Books@NAIBA, Books@NEIBA, Books@PNBA, Books@SCIBA, and Books@SIBA in keeping with the successful Books@BEA program inaugurated at this year's Book Expo America show that attracted nearly 5,000 visitors.  Programs and events such as author signings and rep picks will be highlighted within the catalogs.

Exhibitors and authors attending these regional bookseller shows can include their featured titles in by loading their titles into Edelweiss.   Edelweiss clients can simply choose which of their titles they would like to include in the catalogs - no additional charges apply.  Others may join Edelweiss and load their titles using the new credit card-based small publisher pricing option: $20 per month for one title, $10 per month for each additional title.  A single month will cover participation in all of the shows the publisher is attending.

Each of the eight catalogs will have a dedicated domain name and section within Edelweiss.  Catalogs will be activated a week before each show and remain active for at least a month following the show.  The domain names are listed below.

For more information about the regional bookseller associations fall trade show companion catalogs, including how to participate, please email tradeshows@abovethetreeline.com.
